Over the past couple of weeks, I have been very busy in my garden studio, creating a new range of Christmas greetings cards, ready for you to send to all your loved ones.
To celebrate the wonderful season, I have produced some furry friends themed Christmas cards, featuring; pine martens, penguins, squirrels, foxes, deer, and hares. Available in packs of six cards with three different designs in each, all with lovely wintery scenes too! In my squirrel pack, I have included some glorious winter vegetation including pinecones, and a little feathered red breasted robin too!
All cards feature a ‘Merry Christmas’ message on the front of the card and a blank inside for your own bespoke, personalised message. The greetings card packs also contain correlating white envelopes. All of my Christmas greetings cards are printed on a lovely heavy weight 300gsm paper and are 145x145mm in size so will only require a standard stamp if you’re wishing to send these to friends and family, far and wide.
Creating the designs
To create these adorable furry friends, I have used my pure watercolour technique. Slowly building up layers of paint using tiny brush strokes (with a sable brush). This technique allows the impression of moving fur or feathers in each painting.
I then continue to gently build up all the individual layers which goes on to produce a wonderful 3D effect on all the animals. By using my pure watercolour technique, I have left the snowy scenes unpainted so the white of the paper is what you see as the snow. In particular with the range of pine marten cards, I have had to carefully, with a very steady hand, paint around each individual snowflake!
