Welcome to my pet portrait commissions page. Firstly, I am a watercolour artist based in rural Shropshire. I create your painting from your photographs and use only watercolours. I take pet portrait commissions from all over the UK and from Europe, Middle East, USA and Australia. Your lovely pet portrait will be sent securely flat-packed by courier delivery.
About Helen Parry Artist and my Watercolour Technique
I have a unique way of painting with watercolours, using only three colours (red, yellow and blue) to mix all my colours from. I also use the white of the paper to represent the white within the painting, so effectively I paint everything but the white areas. This is a highly technical precise way of painting. I love to see the detail in every subject I paint, so my technique also involves using very small brushes for fine detail. My technique is called “pure watercolour”. The materials I use ensure my paintings are archival and will last for generations to come.
As you can see from the pet portrait commissions I have completed, that I paint in a realistic style, with layers of colour and fine detail. I try to capture the personality of your lovely pet and the more information you can provide, the better I can understand your endearing pet’s character.
Great communication with you is the key to creating a beautiful pet portrait that you’ll treasure for many years. Therefore, I like to keep in contact with you throughout the whole process by phone or email, whichever your prefer. I’m also happy for you to contact me with any questions you may have. I believe in offering you a great service, with a professional and friendly approach.
Commissioning a Pet Portrait
I try to provide as much information as possible on my website to assist you. You can find out more by visiting the Commission Process page for details about the commission process for a pet portrait from start to finish.
Also you can see Pet Portrait Photography Tips for information on what makes an ideal photo for a pet portrait and how to take great photos of your pet. I also talk about using old printed photos as well. You will also find information about a group pet portrait, with more than one pet or with family members, on the photography tips page.
I’m always busy with commissions so if you need a pet portrait soon, as a gift for someone special, then it might be a good idea to use my gift vouchers, available in various amounts.
Framing a Pet Portrait
I generally provide your pet portrait painting without a frame, but if you would like to discuss framing then please get in touch. Framed commissions that have glass, instead of acrylic, need to be collected from my studio, based in Shropshire.
Extra Giclée Prints
All my watercolour paintings are professionally photographed. Therefore, I can also offer fine art Giclée prints of your pet portrait painting. There is no limit on the amount you can order, and they are a lovely premium quality archival print. They’re a charming gift idea for family and friends, please contact me if you’re interested.
