Welcome to my Architectural Commissions page. I’m a watercolour artist, based in beautiful rural Shropshire, therefore, all my commissions are painted using professional watercolours. I create your architectural commission from your photographs, whether it is a gorgeous well-known landmark or a memento of your beautiful home that you would like painting. I accept architectural commissions from the UK, Norway, Sweden, Germany and many other European countries, in addition to Canada, USA, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
Ideas of an architectural commission include not only your lovely home, but you may wish to combine a watercolour painting of your family, with your wonderful home in the background, surrounded by your beautiful garden. Please contact me with your ideas, I’m happy to help.
About Artist Helen Parry, my Style and Watercolour Technique
For my watercolour paintings I use only three colours (a red, a blue and a yellow), which I mix all my colours from. I don’t use white paint, I let the paper be the white, so basically, I paint everything but the white. This can mean painting with very small brushes to achieve very fine details in my paintings. My painting technique is called “Pure Watercolour”. My painting technique is very unique and technically challenging. I use the best archival materials, which means my watercolour paintings, looked after properly, will last for generations.
My painting style is very realistic, with very fine detail. There is always a lot to see in my paintings. I try to capture all the fine characteristics of a beautiful building in my paintings, from the intricate brickwork, the worn timbers, through to the varying colours of the roof tiles.
Also, I believe good communication is important when it comes to creating your lovely architectural commission. Overall, I want you to be very happy with the watercolour painting I create specially for you. Therefore, I like to keep you informed throughout the commission process, either by phone or email, whichever you prefer. Also, you can always contact me at any point throughout our collaboration. I strive to provide a professional, friendly service, that you can rely on.
Commissioning an Architectural painting
For more information on commissioning, please see Commission Process page.
Additionally, I have put together an Architectural Photography Tips page, which provides information on what makes a good photograph to use for your commission. Also, you’ll find tips on how to take a photograph of a building and things to bear in mind. You’ll also find information of how I can help if you don’t have a photograph of the lovely historic building you would like painting and what to do if you have printed photos only. Hopefully the photography page with give you lots of information and ideas for your architectural commission.
I can be very busy with commissions, so if time is precious please contact me as early as possible. If you need a special commission very soon, then it might be a good idea to buy my Gift Vouchers, they’re available in various amounts and provide a great alternative.
Framing an Architectural Commission
Your architectural commission watercolour painting is supplied without a frame. This gives you the freedom to choose your own frame, but if you would like me to organise a frame for your special painting, then please contact me. Framed commissions that have glass, instead of acrylic, need to be collected from my studio, based in Shropshire.
Giclée Prints Available
All my watercolour paintings are professionally photographed. Therefore, I am able to offer fine art giclée prints of your lovely painting, as gifts for family and friends or as part of a special commemorative event. Please feel free to contact me to discuss giclée prints of your painting.
