Firstly please read ” Commission Information” page, this explains the commission process and hopefully it will answer a lot of your questions.
Below you’ll find some of the most common questions I get asked. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, then please feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to help.
How long does it take, when should I place my order?
I have a waiting list, so please let me know if you have any specific dates in mind, when you enquire. From the initial payment, the whole process can take a minimum of 8 weeks. Firstly it depends on the commissions I am currently working on. I paint commissions on a first come, first served basis. It gets busy towards Christmas so I would advise booking by September and Mother’s day book before January. If you have left it late, you can buy Gift Vouchers, for buying any art in my shop or towards a commission painting.
When do you start painting my commission?
When you have approved the drawing layout of your commission and paid the initial payment, you will be added into my schedule. Then I should be able to give you an approximate completion date.
How much does a commission painting cost?
See my Commissions shop, choose a type of commission, then you will see standard sizes in the description. You can also enter the size, type of background and number of subjects, to see a bespoke price too.
I don’t live in the UK, can you do my commission?
Yes. I have created lovely commission paintings for UK, Spain, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Hong Kong, Singapore, Middle East, Australia, Canada and the US. I love to connect with people from all over the world.
Do you create pencil, watercolour or oil commission paintings?
I am a watercolour artist, so all my commission paintings are painted with professional watercolours.
Do you offer bespoke sizes?
Yes. Your commissioned painting is unique to you, so I am able to offer any size on archival watercolour paper. You can enter the size of commission you would like, by going to my Commissions shop and choosing which type of Commission you would like. Alternatively Get in touch with your ideas and we can discuss your requirements, then I’ll send you a quote.
Do you frame commission paintings?
My prices don’t include framing, frames can be a very personal choice, so I’m happy to leave you free, to choose your own frame. If you would like me to sort framing of your painting, then please get in touch to discuss this further. Framed commissions that have glass, instead of acrylic, need to be collected from my studio, based in Shropshire.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, I can ship your painting. Let me know the details when you make your enquiry.
How much is shipping?
See Delivery Information page.
Do you work from photos?
Yes I work from your photos to create your commissioned painting.
What kind of photograph do you need?
Clear, in focus, close frame of subject. You can find more information on photography tips, dependent on what type of painting you commission.
What size photo should I send?
You need to email photos in their original size. If you’re unsure, then email me a few to check first.
Can I send more than one photo?
Yes. The more photographs you can send the better.
I only have printed photos, not digital photos, can you use these?
Yes. You need to get them scanned at a high resolution of 300dpi resolution with either an AdobeRGB or sRGB colour space and then save as a.jpeg or tif and then email them to me. I have the ability to scan your printed photos, if you can’t. Contact me to discuss this further.
Can you create a group painting using separate photos?
Yes. Having separate photos will provide more detail for each subject. Email the photos and let me know your ideas.
I don’t have a photo of the location for a landscape commission, can you help?
I have a large database of photographs and sketches of various locations. Get in touch, let me know what you would like and I’ll see what I can do.
I don’t have a photo of the subject for a wildlife commission, can you help?
I have a large resource of wildlife photographs and sketches of various wildlife. Get in touch, let me know what you would like and I’ll see what I can do.
Can any last minute amendments be made to my commissioned painting?
Your painting will be created with watercolours. These work from light to dark, so it is difficult to remove or lighten areas of a painting. Only minor adjustments can be made. Please contact me as soon as possible about any concerns you have. Ultimately, the final decision must remain with the artist.
Can I see the commissioned painting, before you send it?
Yes. Once the painting is complete I can email you a photo of the commissioned painting. Some clients like a surprise, so they don’t see the final painting until they receive it. It is up to you which you prefer.
How do you package my commissioned painting?
Your commissioned painting is wrapped in acid free tissue paper and flat-packed between two stiff cardboard sheets, then wrapped in bubble wrap. Then a final layer of polythene is wrapped around the package to protect the painting from water damage.
Can I have a Giclee print of my commissioned painting?
Yes. Your commissioned painting is professionally photographed before I send it. So I can produce archival Giclée prints for you.

Yes, I reserve the right to display the artwork created on my website and through social media platforms and to reproduce prints. If you’re unhappy about this please let me know upon placing your order.
